31st International Festival of Raleigh

October 14th to 16th, 2016

My family has always attended this festival annually and I have loved it every time. As a kid it exposed me to the reality of how diverse and colorful our world is.

In 2016 I performed in this festival with my Persian dance group representing our Iranian roots in this wonderful festival. We performed a traditional Persian dance.

This event made me realize how important it is as a global citizen to not only be able to appreciate any culture but to also make an effort to express your own so that you can learn to communicate with anyone about it regardless of conflicting viewpoints on subjects. Reflecting on and signifying the diversity and complexity of these differences is something attending this festivals has taught me to do. Attending events of this nature exposes you to new perspectives through art, music, & food, which is a beautiful way to do so.
